Disney $DIS ( ▼ 0.27% ) has another monster hit on its hands. “Zootopia 2” crossed the 1 billion dollar global box office mark in only 17 days, making it the second film of 2025 to hit the milestone. The only other movie to do it this year is Disney’s live action “Lilo & Stitch.”
“Zootopia 2” is now the fastest animated film ever to reach 10 figures, fueled by a massive opening over Thanksgiving weekend and huge turnout in China. The sequel also logged the strongest global debut of any animated title this year.
This continues a dominant run for Disney at the box office. In 2024, the studio delivered two billion dollar films with “Inside Out 2” and “Moana 2.” The only other movie to join the club last year was “Deadpool and Wolverine,” which also leaned on Disney owned IP.
