Microsoft $MSFT ( ▼ 0.05% ) announced two major investment plans this morning, committing tens of billions of dollars to expand its AI and cloud footprint across India and Canada.

In India, the company said it will spend $17.5 billion from 2026 to 2029. Microsoft called it its largest investment in Asia to date and said the money will support AI infrastructure, cloud expansion, training programs, and ongoing operations in the country.

The company is also increasing its commitments in Canada. Microsoft now plans to invest CA$19 billion, or roughly $13.73 billion, between 2023 and 2027 to bolster digital and AI infrastructure for long-term growth. That includes more than CA$7.5 billion in spending over the next two years.

Together, the announcements highlight Microsoft’s push to secure global AI capacity as demand for compute, data centers, and skilled workers accelerates.
